Bolt Action - Imperial Japanese Army

Another game system.. This time Warlords 'Bolt Action' WW2 system of rules combined with 28mm models started in August 2013.
Selected Imperial Japan for a couple of reasons, I have a Japanese for for Dystopian Wars, at the time of selecting the army was all metal models (which I like) plus I've always had a soft spot for Japan, especially the language and culture.
Force started with ordering the now out of production '1,000 point Imperial Japanese Army' set, now replaced with another one as the infantry have shifted to plastic models. Figured this would provide just about all I was likely to actually use (as if...). Most of it arrived, still waiting for Warlord to ship some of it to Janco Toys where I bought this lot.
Went with a 'jungle' theme, fancied an army fighting in the steaming jungles of Asia, so a green theme to the uniform, may or may not be totally accurate but it feels right. Given this is very much 'WW2 the game', more so than Flames of War even the look matters.
Anyway, the force is still to grow but as it stands its not too shabby, on with the show.

So far they have had three games, all utter defeats, as in wiped out while killing perhaps two or three enemies, commander needs shooting.
Have discovered that small squads of infantry just don't work, swapping to 2x 10 man squads in the final game helped a bit, will experiment with larger forces when the rest arrives.
First impressions?
The game is good, flows well and is fast to play, may bog a bit with larger forces but the single platoon level works well enough. Models are very nice with lots of character to them only real flaw being the lack of assembly instructions.
