Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines
Introduction to the Tiosen Rifles

Back in the dark depths of the late 1990's I was introduced to this strange little game called 'Rouge Trader', Warhammer 40,000 1st Edition. Like many I had a Space Marine army, the colour blue featured in what would eventually become widely known as 'ultrasmurfs'. Nothing remains of this now long passed force.
Time rolls on and in late 2009 my youngest started playing the then 5th edition of Warhammer 40,000 with some marines painted red. Having got him the Assault on Black Reach starter box I picked up a copy for myself...
The maddness started all over again.
My first army was Imperial Guard, that is a story for another day, this is the start of my Space Marine force. The Tiosen Rifles.
I decided upon a custom chapter, the revised backgrounds for the marines doesn't impress me much, to me marines are normal humans, with various cybernetic upgrades, excellent equipment and training second to none, but humans non the less. I decided on the military from a custom planet, dropping the WH 40,000 background totally though using Codex: Space Marines as the force guide so they are all nice and game legal etc.
The marines in my background form companies 30 - 49 in the Tiosen military structure, I have modeled company No. 37, known as the Tiosen Rifles. Based around a standard Battle Company organisation with a few support elements from elsewhere. As such they fit in nicely with my Imperial Guard and were designed to work alongside each other (who needed 6th Edition for the allies rules?).
My Guardsmen have a dull grey colour shceme so these guys ended up a bit brighter, the main Tiosen military acadamy is located in a range known as the Green Mountains Hence the other name for the marines Warriors of Green Mountain. That provided the green colour to them, the white is a nice counter to it and provides a 'pure' theme. Works for me anyway.
